Aloha Kakou sweet Be Your Brilliance readers!

I missed posting yesterday as it’s honestly been super fun for me to get into the habit of regularly sharing with you and my fellow Ultimate Blog Challenge friends.

I’m inspired to share a 5 part video series I created a few years ago in the next few posts I have lined up for early this week.

Each video is on the topic of ALOHA, the Hawaiian word for Love most often thought of as a greeting. As you’ll find through this series, ALOHA is all of this plus a whole lot more!

Here is Video 1 of 5 in the A-L-O-H-A Series: A is for AKAHAI…

7 Jul

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s enfusionize!

For some reason up until now I haven’t officially let it be known that I’m part of an AMAZING collaborative team.

We are truly awesome and so are our clients!!!

Team enfusionize is 20+ folks, all entrepreneurs in our own right who came together in Fall 2011 to create a full-service Infusionsoft Certified Internet Marketing implementation company serving Conscious Entrepreneurs, Thought Leaders and Creative Visionaries.

The hat I wear is Lead Brand Manager and boy do I love what I do! I assist our clients with Personal Branding, Client Enrollment and Engagement and Brand Asset creation. In a nutshell I help them to mine and leverage their brilliance so they can make a greater impact with their mission, their message and their sales and serve way more people while they’re at it!

We apply our holistic internet marketing model to solve the most common problem we see entrepreneurs facing: a piece-meal approach to getting things done in their business.

I can tell you that having a full-service team of high-level service providers who are also internet marketers AND entrepreneurs on your side is AWESOME; enfusionize is my go-to team too! I have a web series I’m creating (soon to be revealed here) and I’m stoked that enfusionize is creating my site, branding and marketing materials for it. Stay tuned…

I’m also bringing on Music Manager to assist me with promoting and placing my music! If you love upbeat, positive tunes have a listen for free at my current music site http://sonicbids.com/alohadevmusic

So, who’s on your team and why do you love working with them?

Small Kid Time

5 Jul

Small kid time… Hanabadda days…
Back in the day…

There was a time when opening the mail box was like Christmas for me… and this was a near-daily occurance! I had over 300 pen pals at one point and my record for receiving the most letters in a day is 25. Each envelope was a colorful work of art onto itself and came stuffed with slams (see below), confetti/sticker packets, custom address labels and yes, a handwritten letter.

Slams are little handmade booklets that are swapped from person to person where responses to a series of questions are written down. It begins when a friend makes one for another friend. When the booklet is full the last person to fill his/her answers sends the slam to the person it was started for. As the slam travels, each person adds their address label to page one. You can meet and add new pen pals this way in a similar manner that requesting to “friend” a new person on Facebook functions today.

Imagine my delight as I discovered something called the Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap in one of the blogs (we have over 600 folks participating!) that caught my eye yesterday on the Ultimate Blogging Challenge Wall on Facebook. I’m now signed up to participate thanks to Fellow UBC blogger and creative Jo who lives in Aotearoa (aka New Zealand). Check out her process here: JosLittlePictures

Collage Cards Re-Purposed for My “Positioning Your Story and the Dream You Serve” eBook Cover

Yes!… I’m feeling excited with the prospect of exchanging artsy mail again! How it works is participants create art in any medium, document it and then print the image/s onto postcards. You send 5 of these with postage and a return address to Kat, (Founder of Kat Eye Studio). She then sends them off to 5 folks and you eventually receive 5 in the mail in return.

Earlier this year I purged most of my art supplies in a whirlwind of “get rid of it” energy… I did however keep some key items (YAY!) that I’ll be using for this project: my bold color Crayola marker set, watercolor pencils and Prismacolor pencils. Add into the mix a peppering of collage elements and voila.. Instant FUN!

Is there something you enjoyed creating when you were a kid that you currently practice or want to bring more of into your life? Share it with us here…

Freedom IS Free

4 Jul

Spoiler Alert: This post goes against the so-called “norm” and prevailing (up until now) way of thinking on our planet. It may ruffle some feathers. And you know what? I’m Good/God with that. 🙂

Have you ever heard the quote “freedom isn’t free”?

I’m here to tell you: Freedom IS Free!

Guess what? IT IS.

Guess what else? True Freedom has nothing to do with the government, nations, fights, wars, defending, power, control, battles, guns, tanks, bombs or “stylish” camouflage attire. Neither does it have anything to do with red, white or blue, flags or the 4th of July.

True Freedom has EVERYTHING to do with you. With me. With us. With each of our individual and volitional CHOICE to choose Freedom as a way of BEING. As an unwavering Reality dependent on no one else but ourSelves.

It has everything to do with Empowerment. Forgiveness. Detachment. Aloha (Love). Acceptance. Grace. Presence. And Vigilance – Eternal Vigilance, as my Teacher Dr. Roger B. Lane appropriately calls it.

See, no matter what the body your Soul happens to be wearing looks like, feels like, seems like, smells like, talks like, works like or thinks like – In any moment you’re Free to Choose into the Freedom that’s always available or to choose into a state of being “enslaved”.

I suppose redefining “Freedom” is in order. Ultimate Freedom is not about outer circumstances, a declaration of independence or the ability to accumulate things materially (though there’s nothing wrong with having and enjoying things and… kudos to the “founding fathers”).

True Freedom is Being Free no matter what. Where we’re attachment-free, exercising our ability to be in the world but not of it. Where we’re choosing to let go of any drama and the perpetuation of millennia of struggle, suffering, story and pain.

And hey, by no means am I discounting the past, tradition, history, herstory, family, memory or your story by sharing the simple Truth above.

What I AM suggesting is that none of this has power “over” you or can take away the fact that you have Free Will on your side. As you Choose to Empower your Inner Environment you may notice your outer environment shifts to support that.

Only you hold the key to Free yourSelf from attachment to anything past, present or future.

In fact, the things that we’ve allowed to enslave us (in a nutshell, anything that isn’t of God/Source/Spirit) offer the greatest opportunity for us to move into and Choose Freedom – moment-to-moment.

And you may have to make that choice 10 times. 100 times. 1000 times. Or more. But you know what? You’re Worth it. I’m Worth it. The Whole of Humanity is Worth it.

“Yeah”, I can hear someone say, “but what about the holocaust, cancer, drugs, wars, rape, injustice, starvation, pollution, disaster, etc.? These are horrible things that are so unfair…”

To this I say let go of seeing them as fair or unfair. Right or wrong. This or that. Us vs. them.

By no means am I suggesting you like “fucked-up shit” or agree with any of the multitudes of negativity here on the planet.

Accept. Forgive. Transcend. Take note of the story of Victor Frankl. And the story of Kimmie Weeks (whom I’ve had the pleasure of meeting).

With all the freed up energy that Forgiveness provides you may find yourSelf choosing (from a neutral place of inspired action) to assist others with Freeing themSelves, helping to improve their conditions, speaking and advocating for positive alternatives or even starting a business based on filling a need you’ve identified.

A Place of Forgiveness is a Place of Power
Now is the time, this is the hour
Never too late to enter Blessed States
The Choice is Yours, Choose into Grace

Come into Forgiveness, Spirit as Your Witness
Release, Surrender negativity

Give it all up and Set yourSelf Free
Tell yourSelf it’s OK to Let it Go
Judgements drift away and now you know
Yes You’re OK you’ve entered the Flow

Come into Forgiveness, Spirit as Your Witness
Release, Surrender negativity

The Brand of You

3 Jul

Here’s Part 2 of 2 in a my series on Personal Branding. (For Part 1 go here).

No matter where you’re building your personal brand, a critical component of communicating it is likely to happen on the Internet. Although the importance of branding has been known for decades in the large corporate arena, where billions of dollars get spent each year in “brand building” campaigns, it is the Web that has driven the surge of interest in branding at the personal level. It eliminates many traditional barriers to commerce while reinforcing the word-of-mouth value of that special something that makes each business—each person—unique, i.e., its brand.

How to stand out among the masses? Branding!

This idea of the Web driving a new age of personal branding may have been expressed first by management guru Tom Peters in an article in Fast Magazine in 1997. Everyone needs to be “the CEO of Me, Inc.,” he argued. In Peters’ words, “branding means nothing more (and nothing less) than creating a distinct personality…and telling the world about it.”

Web sites create the potential for your brand to have unprecedented reach. The branding communicated through your Web site will help drive your word-of-mouth campaign, and consistent branding will help get your emails opened, read and acted upon. Meanwhile blogs have become the Web tool du jour for personal branding among certain segments—particularly writers and technical professionals.

But another critical aspect of “brand building” for small firms and solo entrepreneurs is the classic standby: growing your network. A clearly defined brand will make that process simpler—who you are and what you do will be easier to remember if you have done your brand homework—but it still requires getting your brand in front of people the old-fashioned way, one handshake at a time.

Social Media is the phenomenon that allows you to bring your website and your networking together. Platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram provide the container for your real-time brand-related updates, invites and announcements to those you know as well as others interested in your great work.

William Arruda, head of the personal branding consultancy Reach lists three tips for making the most of your personal brand to build your business:

• Make sure that everything that surrounds your brand (your office, Web site, customer service organization, etc.) communicates the same brand message.

• Build and nurture your professional network and ensure that all members understand your brand message.

• Establish appropriate partnerships to extend your brand and gain complementary brand value.

A personal brand won’t necessarily turn you into the next Oprah but it provides a valuable tool to define and refine what you do and how you express it to your tribe: your customers, clients and fans.

My 31-Day Blogging Challenge!

2 Jul

OK friends, drum-roll please… I’ve committed to the Ultimate Blogging Challenge and today, July 1st, 2012 is Day 1!

This is an event that happens at least twice a year and is hosted by lovely ladies Michele Scism and Michelle Shaeffer. Hundreds of folks participate and there’s even a private Facebook support group provided for accountability and support.

I decided to go for it as my blog has been in a slumber for most of the year thus far even though I stated early on in the year that I’d be rocking out with more posts, musings and shares. Well like the post I did back on January 8th, 2012 of this year says: Ho’omaka Hou; Begin Again!

Check out “Ho’omaka Hou” by Olomana!

It’s never too late to start anew and Re-Birth! That’s the Beauty, Nature and Reality of Spirit! There’s no time and no judging. There’s only a letting go of the memory and tie to what hasn’t served and from this place of Alignment, the Choice I make is to Begin Again… and so it is!

Do You Express Your Personal Brand with Aloha?

1 Jul

This article is number 1 in a series of 2. Stay tuned for the companion piece in tomorrow’s post.

The idea of a “personal brand” is something we all understand…at least as it relates to celebrities. Figures like Madonna, Martha Stewart and Lance Armstrong can craft and maintain their brands as methodically as the Startbucks and the Nikes of the corporate world.

But a personal brand for you and me? Absolutely, says personal branding guru Peter Montoya. The issue, in fact, isn’t whether to create a personal brand, but how to create the most effective and authentic one you can.

“Everyone has a personal brand, whether they like it or not,” says Montoya, author of The Brand Called You and The Personal Branding Phenomenon. The idea is to craft that brand so that it creates a clear and memorable impression about who you are and what you do—whether you are a small business owner, a solo entrepreneur or even a visionary artist.

A personal brand is “the powerful, clear, positive idea that comes to mind whenever other people think of you,” Montoya explains. It’s the values, abilities and actions you stand for, or, as he puts it, your personal brand is “who you are, what you do, and what makes you different or how you create value for your target market.”

In that sense a personal brand is a little broader than a corporate brand, but it’s not just a synonym for professional marketing. In fact, most personal branding experts say the process of developing a personal brand turns the typical marketing process on its head. Instead of starting with segmenting, targeting, product, price, etc., you start with…you.

You define who you are, what is truly important to you and what makes you unique—that special something that I call your Fundamental Radiance™ – and then you build your brand around that core set of values. In marketing speak, you uncover your “unique promise of value” aka as your “unique selling propositon”. From there, you identify exactly what segment of the market you want to serve and how best to do it.

Effective branding often means targeting a smaller, better defined market with a much more focused message, says William Arruda, head of the personal branding consultancy Reach. “Although it seems counterintuitive, the smaller you make your target market, the greater your chances of success.”

Tomorrow I’ll share Part II of this article and for those of you looking to clarify, craft and embody your Personal Brand of Brilliance so that you make a bigger impact with your mission, your message and your sales email me at support@dewimailelim.com to set-up a complementary 60-minute exploration session.
